The head coaches and players are at odds with the schools. This won’t be good.

I wonder how much this line of reasoning played into the decision:

""Brodkin injected a word of caution, saying that low hospitalization and death rates will not continue indefinitely if the public is not careful because everyone has parents, grandparents and other vulnerable people in their families and communities.

“There will be spill over to those more vulnerable,” she said.

In a briefing this week, B.C.’s provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, said a party in the Vancouver Coastal Health region had led to as many as 46 COVID-19 cases and resulted in the quarantine of about 400 people."

And how many players, refs & coaches, etc, are "higher risk", e.g. old, immune compromised, obese, etc?

Sad day when fear outruns logic. There are ways to have a college football season and be safe as well. May take some creativity, but it can happen. No one wanted to put in the work. Easier to shut it down.

There are always situations where people don't do what they are supposed to, but that has nothing to do with football. That's life.

The beta cucks like X-Files win again.

Rest assured, they may win small battles like this, but they will not win the war. Eventually the silent majority (with lots of guns) will take this country back.

So presumably highly educated and business-savvy administrators and regents agree to say No to over $1billion dollars out of concern for health & well-being of everyone connected to the CFB industr

OTOH a handful of mixed-education level and dubious business-savvy posters on a sports handicapping website tell me these administrators are making a bad move and their true intent which is to derail the reelection of Don Trump in November

Such a tough choice wrt who I should lend more credence

College football is too dangerous, but hundreds of thousands of people in America are playing flag football this week.

That makes sense... By the way, these flag football leagues are happening in places like Chicago, where they take the virus super seriously. Why haven't they banned such things? I'm sure a flag football league at a random park has the infrastructure in place to do it more safely than Clemson.

If people had worn masks and stayed home and socially distanced whenever they left the house we would have college football this year. Some of us made those sacrifices. Others said the virus was fake news and ignored scientists. Those people are why we are still in this mess.

And this includes but not limited to liberals & conservatives who engaged in public protests while unmasked, conservatives who started partying on beaches and in bars mid-May and of course any jackass who has argued w a private business owner re mandates to not enter with an unmasked face

Are they wearing masks or shields? BTW:

You can preach moral superiority if you want.

The truth is that virus spikes are connected to heatwaves in lots of areas. It's very likely that going inside, retreating into air conditioning is what has spread this virus to a degree. So those liberals, like you, who said "close the beaches!!" are definitely a part of the problem.

Nope. I have played in a few and walked by several others and most people, 80/90% are not wearing a mask while they play flag football, volleyball, softball, soccer, etc. And I'll remind you, I live in one of the most liberal cities in this country.

Travel youth baseball ages 7-13 have been going on strong for months. Tournaments everywhere. Pop warner football and flag football have been cruising along for couple weeks now. Haven’t heard of a problem yet.

Nothing to see hear, move along says media/society.

Strict lockdowns have contributed to the virus because you are more likely to get this inside in air conditioning than outside on a beach.

But keep preaching moral superiority.

I don't think the motives are to get Trump out of office by these administrators. Although I do think there are some people, generally speaking, that lean left that will do anything to get him out. Just like there are many on the right that will do anything to keep him in. I keep politics out of this.

However, the motive here, I don't believe, is to keep everyone safe. That sounds great, but money talks. The likelihood of being sued for wrongful death and costing their university and conference a ton of money in a settlement is the reason for these cancellations.
